Test as tlg suggested, wheel off the bike turn the axle by hand. If it stiff or rough at all then there's a problem. Rough means a bad bearing.. Pull the front wheel. Spread apart the brake pads. Put the wheel back on without touching front brake. If it spins freely you know it's the pistons not releasing in the caliper. Possibly some dirt got between then and the seal. I doubt wheel bearings because when their bad the wheel still spins but has side to side play.

I noticed the rear wheel on my 1990 Honda elite 80 was locked. (will spin about %10 of a full turn). It WILL spin if you apply the throttle. I dont believe it to be the brakes. I applied the back brake and it stops it from spinning the 10% that it will spin without the brake applied. Its as if the scooter is stuck in "engaged" mode and will not. Mar 18, 2016 · Opened up the whole thing and check the seals and they were still good. Tried bleeding them and then pressed the rear brake pedal, the piston moves inwards but fails to return fully. Ideally you should take the cassette out, clean the cup properly, put in as many bearings as they will fit in the circumference, and then take one out. That will be the correct number of bearings.

Ive got a 2015 KTM 125 sx, the rear wheel has had no problems until just a couple days ago when I was prepping to go ride this weekend. I put my bike on the stand and in neutral and spun my back wheel but there was something that was holding it back from spinning freely, the spin would completely stop after about 2 or 3 seconds.

. Jun 06, 2015 · I continued to spin my rear wheel and still it did not spin freely. I replaced with my old stock wheels for a comparison and they continued spinning for well over a minute before I stopped them. I then replaced with the new wheel again and continued to spin it and I have noticed a slight improvement but still nowhere near the old wheel. Done a million brake jobs and first time I ever had this issue. Replaced calipers as well. Rear spin freely, front ones don't. Caliper pins and piston move freely. Rotor spins freely on both sides until wheel is torqued, then you can't spin them at all. Take wheel back of and the rotor spins freely..

The larger mass of the rear wheel and less brakes sometimes makes it spin more freely. I don't know where the word "contract" came from in this thread, but contact, release, and retract are the actions. It's the rotor pushing slightly against the pads with the brake released that moves the pads from the released position to the retracted position.

It's either the front wheel, the back wheel, or the pedals and chain. Lift the bike off the ground and turn the front wheel by hand. If it doesn't turn very freely, it could be the hand-brake is dragging or the hub bearing is too tight. Try the back wheel in both directions. The drivers side (the one that was hot) spun freely when I put the new rotor on, spun fine when I put the tire on and hand tightened the lug nuts. As soon as I tightened the lugs the wheel froze completely. I was able to torque the tires (72 lbs) while still jacked up. I spun the star wheels so much there is no e-brake.
